WATCH | Bookkeeper slapped with a 135-year sentence for fraud


 

JOHANNESBURG – Former Gauteng bookkeeper Lindelani Gumede has been sentenced to at least 135 years for all 32 counts of fraud.

Some sentences will run concurrently resulting effectively in a 20-year prison sentence.

Gumede was accused of defrauding at least R11m in COVID-19 relief funds.

The National Prosecuting Authority has welcomed the harsh sentence.
